In 2009, soccer player Messi and his Barcelona team won the European- Champions League Tuornament. That same year, 11 year old Omer battled leukemia. Omer’s dream was to be the finest soccer player in the world, just like Messi. In his youth, Messi suffered from a growth impediment that threatened to cut short his career as a soccer player. Omer draws his strength from Messi’s story and when he goes back to school he puts on a play with his classmates about the story of his life. The play is only the opening kickoff to the journey to fulfill the dream. Omer regards Messi’s story as proof that any dream can be realized with willpower and faith.
